It’s February and love is in the air. Girls are planning their perfect Valentine’s Day outfits and boys are frantically searching for reservations at their love’s favorite restaurant. Holidays can be expensive though, and when you’re planning a wedding, you’re always looking for ways to cut costs (like a pricey Valentine’s Day dinner). My little sister recently got engaged and I know she and her fiance are both working double jobs to save up for their big day. I don’t want them to forget why they’re getting married (they’re in love) amidst all the chaos, so I decided to make them a do-it-yourself date night gift basket. Thanks to the #LoveOurVDay #CollectiveBias campaign, I had a great idea of what to put in their date night basket.
Knowing that my sister and her fiance love to snuggle on the couch watching movies, I bought them a classic romance, plus microwave popcorn and various candies to snack on. I found red sparkly candle holders, fresh breath mints, and a little K-Y® Love Passion to set the mood for a night of closeness. I am also sending her a bottle of wine because they’re both a fan of the vino. All of the goodies were found at Target – my go-to store for pretty much everything.
In every gift basket, there should always be a note. I wanted my sister and her fiance to know the reason I was sending them a bunch of stuff, so I made a quick, but cute little Valentine encouraging them to spend some time together.
Making any date night basket is easy, especially if you have Target’s Cartwheel App. You can use it to receive discounts on items like the K-Y® Love Passion and K-Y® Love Sensuality, which are Target exclusives special for the Valentine season. From 2/1-2/14, Cartwheel offers 10% off K-Y® Love which can be found in the feminine care aisle.
I hope the lovebirds can enjoy a worry free night in on me in a few weeks. Hopefully my date night basket will inspire them to save some money and create more date nights at home! There are so many different possibilities as to what they could do next – an Italian themed dinner, homemade pizzas, or even a board game night!
