Every year the fun “You’ve Been Boo-ed” game makes its way through my neighborhood. Usually a family creates a fun Halloween themed basket and leaves it on the porch of an unsuspecting neighbor with instructions that they must now “Boo” someone to keep the game going. Since my neighborhood is filled with lots of ladies who love their wine, I thought this year it would be fun to surprise everyone with a Hallo-wine basket instead of your typical BOO! Yesterday Annabelle helped me surprise my good friend Bobbie with a basket of Hallo-wine themed goodies.
How do you Hallo-wine your neighbor?
My neighbor knew it was me right away (we share a fondness for wine) and texted me that she was saving all the goodies for our family Halloween trick-or-treating date. Aren’t I lucky she is sharing her presents with me!
You can easily create your own Hallo-wine basket for a neighbor or friend. From coasters to wine charms to spooky goblets, the possibilities are endless for a Hallo-wine adult themed basket. The most important part of the basket should be the wine of course. Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay is the perfect adult drink to star in your basket. Look in stores for “You’ve Been Hallo-wined” themed bottles of wine for instant redeemable coupons or mail in rebates where wine is sold. The offers are valid from (10/1-11/30). You may also notice some bottles will have gift tags around the neck that include a poem about “You’ve Been Hallo-wined,” along with a recipe for Mummy’s Mulled Wine on the back of the tag.
You can find so many different ideas on the Robert Mondavi Halloween website for your own Hallo-wine basket. While candy is fine for the kids, wine is divine for the grownups. Red or white, chilled or room temperature, Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay are both smooth, delicious, and relaxing. While all the kiddos are trick-or-treating on Halloween, the adults can Eat, Drink, and Be Scary!
Bloody Mary Cheeseball Recipe
I’m a huge fan of cheeseballs and what goes better with wine than cheese? A Bloody Mary cheese ball topped with a green pepper resembles a delicious pumpkin. In my neighbor’s basket, she found all the goodies to make her own cheeseball, spooky shaped tortilla chips, and skull goblets to hold the contents of a bottle of Robert Mondavi Private Collection Cabernet Sauvignon. Here is the recipe for an easy Bloody Mary Cheeseball.
- 1 container Bloody Mary Cheeseball Mix OR
- 1⁄4 cup spicy V8 vegetable juice
- 1⁄4 cup finely minced onion
- 1⁄2 cup mayonnaise
- 1⁄4 cup tomato puree
- 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 8oz packages cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1/2 mayonnaise
- Plastic wrap
- Stem from green pepper
- Combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, and Bloody Mary mix in a bowl. Mix with a spatula until ingredients are combined.
- Dump ingredients on a large piece of plastic wrap. Roll the cheese into a ball with the wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Unwrap cheeseball and place in a bowl or on a plate. Top cheeseball with the stem from a green pepper.
- Enjoy with tortilla chips!
