Since I got engaged in August I made a promise to myself that not only would I get back in shape, but I would have the most beautiful skin and hair by my wedding. I vowed to never go tanning again, use a face moisturizer with SPF every day, take vitamins for my hair/skin/nails, AND dye my hair from blonde to brown (my natural color).
Going from blonde to brown in 3 hours was a little difficult, and I left the salon thinking that even though my hair looked fabulously shiny and healthy, I was a pastey Gothic princess. I went home and must have stared at myself in the mirror for a good 20 minutes before I could recognize the girl staring back.
And then something clicked – or rather, I heard my cousin’s voice in my head, repeating a radio commercial from 13 years ago – “Girl, you ARE beautiful!” Now… that really didn’t happen, but I did slap myself a couple times until I realized I could pull off the dark hair. I’d done it before, for years, and if my hair was dark, then it would grow long for my wedding.
