Dear 18 year old self,
I bet you can’t believe you on a plane right now going to Tennessee to visit the boy you met on the Carnival Cruise exactly one year ago. Who knew that you two would reconnect a year later in Fort Lauderdale and still feel those same sparks? I don’t think anyone could have predicted this one.
I know that you already feel like he is your soul mate. You have since you laid eyes on him. Everything you are feeling is real. This weekend you are going to meet all of his college friends and both sets of his parents. He is actually driving you 3 hours to ATL to meet his Dad and Stepmom because he knows you are pretty important. Don’t question anything that happens and let it all soak in. You will reminisce about this trip for many years to come.
Your first night at the University of Tennessee with Mr. Tenn himself is going to be awesome. You will go on your first real date. He has plans to take you somewhere nice, but by the time you two get out of the dorm room, you are drunk off of tequila and all the restaurants are closed. You will end up at Olive Garden and laugh so hard together that you forget you are actually in a public place. The people might stare – but it’s okay – you are young and falling in love.
You are going to stare at him from across the table and think, “I hope this never ends.” It isn’t going to end. This date is just the beginning of an incredible life you are going to have. However, you end up having a panic attack while flying home three days later. You think that he isn’t going to call or want to see you again. You are wrong. Do not doubt anything. You have this boy smitten.
In 5 and a half years from now you are going to marry this boy. You will walk down a sandy aisle on a beach in Florida with your Dad by your side. He will be at the end of that aisle, smiling so big and beaming with happiness. All of your family and friends will be there to celebrate with you. It is the most incredible day and more amazing than you could ever imagine. And he will be yours forever.
Your married and blissful 27 year old self
